There will be a BDA meeting of the Essex Branch immediately after the LDC meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. Please see: BDA Agenda.
David Barter (Head of Commissioning NHSE – EoE) will be in attendance to advise us of the imminent transfer of commissioning responsibilities to the ICBs at the end of this month.
It is possibly the last time that David will be joining us, and it would be fitting if we could provide a good turnout to thank him for his invaluable input over many years.

Tom Norfolk (Joint Chair, LDN, EoE; Lead Dental Clinical Adviser NHSE/I, EoE; Exec member of the National Association of Dental Advisers) has written to me requesting help from our members:
I’m presenting to a group of dental negligence solicitors and barristers and claims handlers in a few days. One of the aspects I want to capture are the feelings/emotions about being on the wrong end of a claim for negligence as a dentist or serious complaint. If you’ve received anything like that (or you have been closely involved with colleagues who have), can you let me know some simple adjectives to express your emotions pls. I’m keen to be able to tell them they are a true representation rather than just my thoughts. I think there are obvious emotions but also probably less obvious knock-on emotions/ effects as well which I'm keen to be able to highlight to them so they understand.
Many of the lawyers will be experienced so I'm hoping to try to capture the less obvious as well as the obvious.
I’m asking many of the dentists that I know and it’s all totally anonymous. I’m hoping to get a few slides worth of real feedback.
