Officials are elected by the voted members of the Essex Local Dental Committee to fulfil specific roles and responsibilities within the organisation
Bryan Harvey - Chairman
Bryan is a Senior Dento-Legal Adviser at the DDU. He has been qualified for 51 years. Before 1 January 2016 he was Deputy Head of the DDU and has been a dento-legal adviser for 26 years.
Prior to this he was in general practice for 25 years and at that time was a vocational trainer, an associate specialist in oral surgery and adviser at BDA.
Currently he is chairman of Essex LDC, on the LPN and MCN for Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry.
He keeps wet gloved working alternate Saturday mornings in practice.
Bryan regularly lectures on dento-legal and ethical issues.
Tony Clough - Secretary
Tony Clough has been LDC secretary for 16 years representing and promoting Essex dentistry during that time.
He was a VT trainer from the inception of VT some 30 years ago and was also a tutor at Barts and lectured on the Sports Dentistry course at the Eastman .
Tony is currently an advisor on sports dentistry with the IOC as well as caring for the dental well being of GB Boxing's rising stars.
In between all of the above he finds time to run 3 dental practices and is an advisor to the newly formed Essex Dental Trauma service.
Clint Foreman - Assistant Secretary
I qualified at The Royal London Hospital and am now retired after working for some 33 years in the NHS, initially as an associate and then as a practice owner.
I also worked at Southend Hospital in the Orthodontic Department for 2 years and was a Vocational Trainer for 12 years from its inception.
I sat on various Clinical Governance, Oral Health Advisory and Disciplinary Panels, and was elected to Secretary of the South Essex LDC in 2004.
I have been the Assistant Secretary to the Essex LDC since the amalgamation of the North and South branches.
Mark Preston - Treasurer
Mark qualified from the London Hospital in 1986 and has been working as a dentist on Canvey Island ever since.
He is married to an accountant which has proved to be very useful in his role as Treasurer for the Essex LDC.
Nick Barker - Local Dental Network Chair
Nick is the Chair of the Local Dental Network for Essex and representative for Midlands and East of England on the National Steering Group for NHS England.
He has an MSc, with distinction, in Restorative dentistry from UCL Eastman. He is also the Postgraduate Dental Tutor for Health Education England at Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust, a Clinical Lecturer on the MSc in periodontology at University of Essex and Honorary Member of Staff at Barts and the London School of Dentistry.
Nick is secretary for the Essex BDA branch, the elected member of General Dental Practice Committee for Essex at BDA headquarters, and is a Clinical Assessor for East of England Performance Advisory Group.
He also runs the extended duties courses for dental nurses for the East of England Deanery. In his part time, he also runs a referral practice for endodontics and prosthodontics and a specialist clinic for treating hypodontia and complex restorative care alongside an orthodontist and periodontist.
Nick is a national Key Opinion Leader for Dentsply in restorative dentistry and Endodontics.
Tom Clough - GDPC Representative
Having qualified in ‘08 from Barts & The London, I am now a practice principal at Springfield and Advent Dental Practices.
I gained my PG Cert Ed from Beds. Uni. and a clinical educator for the Oral Health Sciences degree at University of Essex.
I am Involved as an Essex rep. for GDPC on behalf of LDC.
Hiten Pabari - Restorative MCN Chair

My practice is limited to complex rehabilitation of the partially/fully edentate patient.
As a Clinical Director overseeing 22 dental clinicians, Hiten believes that by supporting our colleagues we are all able to progress and improve the care for our patients.

Spencer Nute - Hospital Orthodontic Representative
Spencer has been a consultant and clinical lead for orthodontics at Southend and Basildon Hospitals since 2000. He also works in two private specialist referral practices in South Essex.
As well as his clinical roles, he is involved with orthodontic specialist training. He is an examiner for the University of London and has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His national roles include being a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for orthodontics and committee member of the British Orthodontic Society consultant group, Locally, he is the hospital orthodontics representative on Essex LDN and Orthodontic MCN.

Chris Roome - GDC Representative
Chris graduated from the London Hospital Medical College in 1985 and initially worked within Hospital based Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery.
A short period as an Associate in was followed by opening a ‘Cold squat’ in 1990.
Whilst growing the practice, Chris developed an interest in Education and matters Medico-legal. Chris worked part-time as a Dento-legal adviser, attained a Master of Laws and lectured at the Universities of Essex and Bedfordshire.
Chris was a Vocational/Foundation Trainer for 26 years and also provided General Dental Services within Her Majesty’s Prisons.
Chris trained as a Mentor in Dental Practice (UCLAN) and worked with the NHS Area Team as part of their PAG and Performer List Decision Panel.
The Practice was sold in 2017, a period as an ‘Associate’ followed and Chris now works, part-time, as a Clinical Dental Adviser within Fitness to Practice at the General Dental Council and part-time in Private General Practice.
At the time of writing Chris is working, in very different conditions, within one of the NHS Urgent Dental Care Centres.
Georg Schnellinger - Young Dentist Lead and Website
I have been working as an associate dentist in Harlow since 2008 with a clinical focus is in Paediatric Dentistry. I obtained a doctorate in Germany and a MSc in Paediatric Dentistry at the Eastman.

Non clinically I am representing associates (performers) in the Essex Local Dental Network since its foundation in 2013. I developed and manage community based preventative programs in local primary schools since 2016. I feel strongly about reducing health inequalities and improving health outcomes.
