LDC Meeting 27.11.23. + further Updates

A reminder that the next LDC meeting will be held at Chelmsford GC on Monday 27th November 2023 (6.30pm). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is Dental Foundation Training application time again, and Jason Stokes (Associate Dental Dean for Early Years) has sent the following message: Dear Colleagues The application process for our Foundation Training programmes is now open. This includes:

  • Dental Foundation Training

  • Joint Dental Foundation Training/Dental Core Training

  • Dental Therapist Foundation Training

If you would like to apply for the post of Educational Supervisor (ES) for any of these programmes, please study the attached Information Guide and the How to Apply documents.

There is one application process covering:

  • Dental Foundation Training

  • Joint Dental Foundation Training/Dental Core Training

  • Dental Therapist Foundation Training

This round of applications is for the 2024-2025 academic year, with Trainees starting in post on 01.09.2024. Current ESs will also need to follow this process as part of our quality assurance programme. Please be aware that the closing date and time is noon on 15.12.2023 any applications received after this date will not be included in the selection process. The data required to apply is quite wide ranging. If you wish to apply, we recommend starting the process immediately and submitting your form well before the closing date. We would be grateful if any existing ESs who do not wish to continue for the 2024-2025 academic year let us know. This will greatly aid our planning for the next intake of trainees. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. Educational Supervisor Information Guide 24-25 How to Apply 24-25 Jason is running an Introduction to Dental Foundation Training virtual training event at 7pm on 30 November 2023. This course will explain the role of Educational Supervisor within Dental Foundation Training. It will describe the responsibilities, and also the contribution required from the practice team. The course will allow an opportunity for discussion and questions. The course will provide verifiable CPD. My name is Thibault Colloc. I am a clinical lecturer and honorary specialty registrar in Endodontics at the University of Dundee. I am reaching out to you as part of my PhD research project, which focuses on understanding the current practices and challenges associated with the management of irreversible pulpitis among dentists in the UK. This survey is designed to be concise and will take approximately 10 to 15mins to complete. It covers various aspects of irreversible pulpitis management, including diagnostic approaches, treatment modalities, and challenges faced by practitioners. Your responses will remain confidential, and the aggregated data will be used solely for academic research purposes.
