Next LDC Meeting
We are expecting a decision about the reorganisation of the new Essex ICB on 2nd February 2026, when we will know the make up of the Commissioning Team and whether it is autonomous for dentistry or under the directive of another arm of medicine.This will be followed by a 2-week consultation period, and we will organise the next LDC meeting shortly after this to discuss the various ramifications, along with the changes to the NHS Dental Contract which will come into force on 1st April 2026.

Update on the HWE ICB Orthodontic Procurement Process

North East Essex UDA Rate Adjustment Effective 1 April 2026
ICBs are changing their configurations from 1st April 2026, and providers with contracts in North East Essex will be transferred to the new Essex ICB.
SNEE ICB will implement a new minimum UDA rate of £35.55 for all recurrently commissioned UDAs in NE Essex,effective from 1st April 2026.
To deliver this change, contracts have been assessed and placed into one of three groups based on historical UDA delivery and current UDA rate:
Group 1: Contracts that delivered under 90% of contracted UDAs in two out of the last three years and currently have a UDA rate below £35.55. These contracts will have their annual UDA target reduced, with the contract value remaining unchanged, to enable the uplift to £35.55.
Group 2: Contracts that delivered 90% or more of contracted UDAs in two out of the last three years and currently have a UDA rate below £35.55. These practices will receive a financial uplift to their annual contract value to bring their UDA rate to £35.55, with no change to their annual UDA target.
Group 3: Contracts with a UDA value either at or above the minimum UDA rate of £35.55. These contracts will remain unchanged.
