2. Reforms to the NHS. Presentation by CH
The EoE part of the new clustered Central StHA have 11 pledges on performance management – pledge 3 is that “we will ensure GP practices improve access and become more responsive to the needs of patients”
pledge 4 is that “we will ensure that NHS primary dental services are available locally to all who need them”.

Pilots for new dental contract

New contract based on: capitation / registration / quality.

3 models / 50-60 areas (Eng.) / April 2011 - April 2012 / no UDA target / QOF development / then consultation + reforms to patient charging system.

Type 1: same contract sum for specified number of people / free to provide clinical care as deemed necessary.

Type 2: national weighted capitation (depends on age, gender, social deprivation) for all care (preventive, routine, complex).
